Responsible Use of Tax Dollars
Quality of Life
A Voice for the People of Ward 6
Hello neighbors! My name is Jeff Cox and I am passionate about protecting the unique quality of life enjoyed by the residents of southern Johnson County in Ward 6. I have lived in Overland Park for the past 20 years with my wife, Ricki and our two children, Logan and Breana. First and foremost I am not a career politician. For the past four years, I have witnessed our city council prioritize special interests groups over its people. I am your average neighbor who believes in government transparency and advocating for the best interests of the people. My background as a businessman has primarily focused on managing bottom line results, which in day-to-day terms means responsibly spending and managing operating costs. Our ward is the last remaining part of the city to be developed. I intend to advocate for fiscal responsibility by ensuring special interest groups are not given unnecessary tax incentives resulting in reduced revenue for our schools, city roads, parks and small businesses.
My top priorities as your future City Councilman are to:
PROTECT the quality of life in OP by ensuring development projects align with citizen needs, especially given the delicate balance we have in Ward 6 between farms, suburban areas, schools, parks and small businesses. I will advocate for a healthy balance of density while embracing local agriculture, parks and recreation.
- STOP the improper use of tax incentives for commercial development by advocating for responsible spending. I will be laser focused on the needs of the community vs special interest groups.
- STOP the overbuilding of high density apartments.
- STOP the use of chip seal for residential street resurfacing.
